ARTISTIC CONCEPT
This work allows the mutual relationship between "viewers" and "the viewed" to be examined from the horizontal angle of the viewer, and employs stylized shapes to express a way of thinking about time and space. The work uses hints of an alternative visual space as a metaphor for the impermanence of human affairs. Metaphorical methods are used to rethink the meaning of existence. From illusion to reality, and from consciousness to unconsciousness, our inherent awareness of time causes us to be anxious and ill at ease. This three-dimensional installation work delves into the question of how we can root out the obstacle of time and penetrate to the deeper places of our souls. Because involvement in a real space emphasizes the experience of contemporaneity, all time exists eternally at this one moment. At least this form of participation allows us to truly enter a spiritual state, a state that is autonomous and complete in and of itself.
The work explores the dialectical relationship between real spaces and inner spaces of thought. The images and shapes of different times/spaces and with overlapping emotions employ a symbolic point of view that intervenes in the present tense. Through the involvement and coordination of "things" and "self," and juxtaposition and misplacement, mutual repulsion creates a contradiction, but balance can yet be achieved in a heterogeneous state.
